Relocation and Emergency Services

This department provides on-call, emergency services to Philadelphia residents. The department responds to requests from other city departments. For example, if an L+I inspector deems an apartment inhabitable and the apartment residents have nowhere else to stay, Relocation and Emergency Services will immediately find the residents transitional shelter.

The department also replies to requests from the health department, domestic abuse emergencies, house fires, and other shelter emergencies.  Often, the Relocation and Emergency Services worker is the first city employee to arrive at an emergency.
