Appletree Family Center is a weekday intake and reception center for single women, families, and children. Appletree's intake involves determining eligibility, a needs assessment, orientation, and referral, prevention, diversion, or placement.
The center recently moved to its new location on Cherry Street. In conjunction with the Maternal Care Coalition, Appletree provides children under age two with cribs. The University of Pennsylvania participates in a research project at Appletree to determine how to divert families from shelters and help the families make their own arrangements.
