Operated by Molletta Personal Care Home Inc., the Allegheny House is a transitional housing facility in North Philly that serves single men. Allegheny houses 12 men and the Office of Supportive Housing, Temple University, Kirkbride Mental Health Facility and other organizations make referrals.
Case managers work with residents to create an individualized plan for success. This involves finding steady income, applying for housing, saving money, ending drug and alcohol dependency, and dealing with any mental health issues. Residents can obtain work through Project Build, which provides employment in the construction business. Medical care, including for men with HIV/AIDS, is available from an on-site doctor or from partnered institutions.
Before moving on to permanent housing each resident is expected to passed certain benchmarks, including passing a urine test and having steady income, $600 in savings, and no debt to utility companies.
