1260 HDC Arch Shelter Plus Care

Part of the 1260 Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit corporation, the Arch Shelter Plus Care facilities provide permanent, independent housing to ten homeless people diagnosed with a severe mental illness. The Department of Behavioral Health makes referrals.

The Arch Shelter Plus Care program provides one-bedroom apartments throughout Philadelphia. APC is a Sponsor-based Rental Assistance program, so residents live in facilities owned or leased by 1260 HDC around the city. Housing is inspected every year to make sure it is up to code. Residents contribute 30% of their income to rent, although this can be reduced if a resident’s income increases above certain levels.

1260 also provides a variety of services to through the City of Philadelphia’s Supported Independent Living Program. Services are available to residents for problems like mental illness and behavioral health issues. These services address residents’ particular needs so that they can live as part of a community.
