City of Philadelphia - American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 - Notice of Public Comment Period

The City of Philadelphia has been notified that it will receive funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for Homeless Prevention Services. These funds are part of the Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) program of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. ESG funds are administered by the City’s Office of Supportive Housing. The City has released its Proposed Substantial Amendment to Year 34 of the Consolidated Plan to describe the proposed usage of these funds for homeless prevention and related services. Funding will be used to provide homelessness prevention assistance to households who would otherwise become homeless and to provide assistance to rapidly re-house households as defined by the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The anticipated award will total $21,486,240 and is expected to be spent over a 3 year period. The City is accepting comments on the Proposed Substantial Amendment until April 23, 2009.
