About Us

What is One Neighborhood?

One Neigborhood is a coalition, a collaboration, and a community of all those involved in creating, developing and implementing solutions to solve homelessness. The purpose of One Neighborhood is to foster discussion, information sharing, collaboration, and resource development for and among those involved with and concerned about homeless individuals and families in Philadelphia. All of the website's information sharing and work sharing features are designed towards this end.

Some of the services provided by One Neighborhood are: Homeless Census Center, a News Room, Member Agency Directory, Program Listing, Discussion Forum, Events Listing, Library, and Photo Gallery.

Anyone is welcome to use the services of One Neighborhood and all have an equal voice and an equal opportunity to join in the discussion and get involved. Visitors are invited to sign-up and begin using One Neighborhood today.

The best way to experience what One Neighborhood is all about is to join up, learn what others are doing, and let your voice be heard.

Who created One Neighborhood?

Many partners were involved in the creation of One Neighborhood. Please view our acknowledgements to learn how the One Neighborhood project was conceived, developed, and implemented.

Background: A Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness

In the Spring of 2005 Mayor Street announced an ambitious and admirable vision for Philadelphia - to be the first City to end homelessness. A Ten Year Plan lays out the goals of this vision. Inherent in this plan is the need for partnerships in local, state, and federal government. More than 100 organizations - corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, government, religious - have played a role in developing this plan and are active members of the Mayor's Task Force on Homelessness.

Today: A Community of Practice

One Neighborhood brings together a community of individuals and organizations and is one of many technology based initiatives underlying the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness. Technology plays a crucial role in implementing the 10 Year Plan by supporting the communication mechanisms necessary to integrating the work of the numerous organizations and individuals involved, and to generating political will, civic support, and public and private resources.
